School Programs
The Lapeer Police Department works closely with our schools to educate our children on drug awareness. If you are interested in arranging a visit to discuss one of the following programs, please call 810.664.0833.
TEAM - Teaching, Educating, and Mentoring
This program takes place in our 5th grade elementary schools. The program lasts for eight (8) weeks. It teaches the students how to resist temptations of using drugs and peer pressure from other students.
School Resource Officers
Our department in partnership with the Lapeer Community Schools has two full time School Resource Officers (SRO's), Officer AJ Wetzel and Officer Stephanie Shibley. Our SRO's provide a personal point of contact within the school building for our students, parents, teachers and school administrators. SRO's instruct programs in personal safety, drug awareness, anti-bullying, CPR, TEAM Training and more. SRO's attend extracurricular events such as football and basketball games, prom, homecoming dance, along with attending educational events that take place after traditional school hours. OUR SRO's are active, energetic members of the school environment that work hard to ensure a safe and secure learning environmental for all.
