Streets Division

The Streets Division of the Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of 43.4 miles of major and local streets, 2.5 miles of State trunkline (M-24), bridges, sidewalks, street lights, traffic signals & street trees.

Activities related to the maintenance of City's street system includes repairs, snow removal and sweeping.

Additional responsibilities of the Streets Division include:

  • Assistance and inspection of public and private construction projects
  • Downtown maintenance (parking lots, electrical, and special events)
  • Road closure and barricade set-up for public and private events
  • Yard waste and brush pick-up
  • Aiding various City Departments
The division is staffed by by four (4) full-time staff members:

    • Sign and Pavement Marking Technician Level I Certification
    • Sign and Pavement Marking Technician Level II Certification
    • Michigan Temporary Traffic Control Specialist Certification
    • Traffic Signal Technician Level I
  • Roy Lee - Equipment Operator IV
    • Temporary Traffic Control Specialist Certification
  • Chad Wineman - Equipment Operator IV
    • Sign and Pavement Marking Technician Level I Certification
    • Sign and Pavement Marking Technician Level II Certification
    • Michigan Temporary Traffic Control Specialist Certification
    • Traffic Signal Technician Level I
  • Justin Calvert - Equipment Operator I
    • Michigan Temporary Traffic Control Specialist Certification
The division also includes two (2) part-time members, as well as clerical support.
