Infant and Preschool Aquatic Program
Micro Fish 1 | 6 months to 18 months (with parent in water) |
Adult participation required. This class is designed to introduce and accustom your young | |
child in the water. Participating adults will learn holding positions, cues, passing, drafting, | |
floating, scooping, arm/let action, and safety skills. | |
Micro Fish 2 | 19 months to 3 years+ (with parent in water) |
Adult participation is required. This class is designed for toddlers and preschool children | |
who are not ready to participate in lessons on their own. This course is similar to Micro | |
Fish 1 class with added skills to challenge older children. | |
Mini Fish 1 | 3 - 5 Years Old (without the parent in the water) |
No adult participation required. This class is for young children ready to begin lessons on | |
their own. Teaches arm and leg action, breath control, floating, gliding, jumping from the | |
side of the pool and water safety. | |
Exit Skills: | |
1. Follow directions & know safety procedures | |
2. Comfortable in the water & can swim with float for 5 strokes | |
3. Blow bubbles & jump in with help | |
Mini Fish 2 | 3 - 5 Years Old |
Prerequisite: Children who have passed Mini Fish 1 exit skills. | |
Exit Skills: | |
1. Jump off unassisted & swim a minimum of 1 width of the pool | |
(child must be “light” in the water) & horizontal with floatation device. | |
2. Do an accidental fall in & swim back to side without float. |

Mini Fish 3 | 3 - 5 Years Old |
Prerequisite: Children who have passed Mini Fish 2 exit skills. | |
Exit Skills: | |
1. Jump without float & swim 20 feet with ease. | |
2. Willing to dive (sit & kneeling) with or without help | |
3. If child is 6 or older and can pass all the skills, swim 5 yards, and do a front and back float | |
go into Level 2 if they cannot, go into Level 1. | |
Mini Fish 4 | 3 - 5 Years Old |
Prerequisite: Children who have passed Mini Fish 3 exit skills. | |
Exit Skills: | |
1. If child is 6 or older and can pass all the skills, swim 5 yards, and do a front and back float | |
go into level 2 if they cannot, go into Level 1. |
