Department Staff

Local emergency services are critical to any community.  Those services ensure that our city/township remain safe and are a desirable place to live, work, and visit.  Firefighters are trained to perform a wide range of jobs which include fighting fires but more normally include responding to all sorts of incidents where the public need assistance.  Some common incidents include natural gas leaks, vehicle accidents, and electrical equipment issues.  Our firefighters also respond to less frequent events such as natural disasters, hazardous material incidents, and rescues where people are trapped.

The City of Lapeer Fire and Rescue Department is made up of primarily paid-call firefighters who reside in our community.  Contrary to what most people expect, firefighters do not live at the department nor is our station staffed with personnel.  When a call for service arises, our dedicated members respond from their homes to the fire station to assist you in a timely manner.  All firefighters and fire officers are State of Michigan certified firefighters and certified fire officers.  Many staff members also have advanced technical training such as vehicle extrication, fire investigation, and emergency incident management.
