Our Water
and Sewer Department is proud of the job it does maintaining the
water and sewer systems. We are involved in a wide range of duties
to ensure that a high quality of water is delivered to our customers
and the city sanitary system functions properly. The City purchases
water from the City of Detroit Water Department. The water we receive
is surface water from Lake Huron. Water for treatment at the Lake
Huron plant arrives via a deep tunnel with an intake located 5 miles
out in Lake Huron – 45 feet deep.
