Dale
Kerbyson was selected as the City Manager in December 2004.
Dale has over eleven years experience in city management and
previously worked as the City Manager in Marlette, Michigan. Activities included Executive Director of the Marlette Downtown
Development Authority, Marlette Local Development Finance Authority,
the Marlette Historical Society, and Chamber of Commerce.
Dale was a certified Public Manager and has a bachelors degree
in Liberal Arts from Central Michigan University.

is a board member for the Michigan Local Government Management Association,
Lapeer Development Corporation, Economic Development
Commission/Tax Increment Finance Authority/Brownfield Redevelopment
Authority, Local Development Finance Authority, Planning
Commission, Community Foundation Economic Development Visionary Committee, and the Mott Community College Scholarship Fundraising Committee.

City Manager Duties
As the City's Chief Administrative Officer, the City Manager
is responsible for managing the day-to day operations
of the city, including:
- Implementation of programs,
ordinances and policies
- Working with elected
officials to achieve common goals and
objectives for the community. Ensure
that ordinances and polices approved
by the elected officials are equitably enforced
throughout
the
city.
- Management of Public Funds
- Ensuring the cost-effectiveness
of programs, balancing budgets, and securing
the financial
health of the community. Prepare
the annual budget, submit it to elected officials
for
approval and
implement it once approved.
- Generate a city-wide Capital Improvement Program approved by the City Commission.
- Coordination of service
delivery
- Anticipating future
needs, organizing work operations, and establishing
timetables
to meet
community
needs. Solicit bids from contractors
and select or recommend the appropriate organization
to
perform the work.
- Administration of Personnel
- Providing direction
and leadership to department heads, administrative
personnel,
other employees
and those who provide direct services
to the City.
- Building Community and Problem
Solving
- Seeking feedback
from residents and members of the business
community to address and solve
problem.
Investigate citizen complaints or issues
within the administrative organization and
recommend
changes to elected officials.
- Public Trust and Confidence
- Bringing to the

affirming human dignity, and improving the
