We provide the following spring and fall cleanup program and fall leaf collection programs:

  • Spring Cleanup: Conducted yearly with the spring collection period the first week of May.
  • Fall leaf collection: A seasonal service conducted by the Street Division with the leaves stored at a compost site until decomposition is complete and then the material is used by all departments city wide for landscape purposes as topsoil.

All leaf pickup will be finalized on November 30, 2010.  If you have leaves after this date, they must be bagged and taken to the Department of Public Works Building located at 217 Bentley Street.  Questions in this regard can be answered at 810-664-4711.

Grass clippings and leaves that are bagged will be picked up during the same week but not necessarily the same day. We have two crews that pick up brush. One crew picks up the bagged brush and another picks up the branches. These two crews usually do not pick up in the same area at the same time.

Tree Removal

Tree removals within the right of way of a street are the responsibility of our Street Division.

When is a tree removed? Before a tree is removed as part of our tree removal schedule or at a homeowner’s request, an arborist reviews the tree to confirm the need for removal. A site review is also conducted for a replant.

Please contact the Streets Division to request tree removal:
