Yard Waste & Brush Pick Up

Street Division crews collect yard waste (bags) and Brush starting the first day of each month.  An exception to this rule is November.  leaf pick up starts the first of November and requires a majority of the DPW staff, for this reason we do not pick up bags or brush in November.

The City of Lapeer Department of Public Works offers residential monthly curbside brush pick up beginning on the 1st day of each month to allow the citizens of the City to dispose of their yard waste, i.e. grass clippings, leaves, brush, etc.  All yard waste must be placed at the curbside by the day prior to the monthly scheduled collection.  Please place all composting materials in boxes or paper bags.  The use of plastic bags is prohibited.

City residents may also take their brush and composting materials to the drop-off area at the Department of Public Works facility located at 217 Bentley Street Monday through Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. without having to wait for the monthly brush pick up service.  Verification of residency will be checked prior to drop off.  Please remove compost from boxes and paper bags prior to placing material within the compost bin.

This program is intended to assist residents of the City of Lapeer and it is unlawful for yard waste from outside the City limits to be brought into the City of Lapeer for disposal.

City Ordinance 4.11 states that all brush must be cut in less than 4 ft. lengths and tied in bundles not to exceed 50 pounds.  Your cooperation is needed to prevent injury and quicken the pick up process.

If you have any questions regarding the composting or brush pick up programs, please call the Department of Public Works at 664.4711.
