Sewer Facts

The City of Lapeer maintains over 51.5 miles of sanitary sewer mains and over 1,150 sanitary manholes with more being added each year!  Routine maintenance includes visual and physical inspections, jetting/cleaning and repairing or replacing if necessary.

Private lateral sanitary line issues can be caused by tree roots entering thru old ductile pipe, grease being poured down the drain or plugged roof vents.  As you navigate the Sewer Department section, you will find useful tips on how to prevent sewer line issues in your home.

If you are having sanitary sewer issues, please call the Department of Public Works at (810) 664-4711 to have one of our trained employees check the main in front of your home to rule out any issues on our end before you call a private company to investigate
