Our police force is well equipped to handle any emergency situation, as well
as to provide community education to prevent emergencies. As required
for the protection of our citizens, we also work in conjunction
with the Michigan State Police, Thumb Area Narcotics and Lapeer
County sheriff’s department. Your safety is our number one concern.
Meet Your Police Chief
As the Chief of Police for the City of Lapeer, I work with the community to provide
the most professional service we can by guiding our officers and
staff to strive for excellence and commitment. Our police force
also works with community leaders to provide information to help
make the right decisions regarding public safety.

Todd Alexander became the Chief of Police for the City of Lapeer in October of
2001. Chief Alexander has 20 years of police experience.
Alexander started as a Tuscola County Sheriff Deputy in
Caro Michigan in 1983 before coming to the Lapeer Police
Department
in July of 1985. He then started working as a foot patrol
officer in downtown Lapeer and then moved on to a motorcycle
officer, K-9 Trainer/Handler, Accident Investigator, Patrol
Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, and then on September
11, 2001 was made Acting Chief until taking his present
position of Chief of Police on October 2, 2001.

During
his career, he was also a member of the Metamora
Township Police Department, Lapeer County
Sheriff Dive Team, Lapeer Area Ambulance
Service as and EMT-D, and a member of the
City of Lapeer Fire and Rescue where he held
the rank of Lieutenant.
Chief Alexander is
a member of the Michigan Association of
Chief of Police, International Association
of Chief
of Police, Trustee of the Lapeer County
Chief of Police, Secretary for the 911 Authority
Board, and Secretary/Treasure for the Thumb
Narcotics Unit. He also serves on the Board
of Directors for the Lapeer Area Citizens
Against Domestic Assault (L.A.C.A.D.A.
women’s
shelter). |
