The development of new business
downtown and the expansion of existing businesses
are aided through the efforts of the Community
Development division and the Downtown Development Authority. We work closely with local building owners
and realtors to locate the types of new businesses
needed downtown, and helps interested entrepreneurs
find just the right location.

Duties
Our Community Development division:
- Provides downtown business
owners with information on the facade loan and
sign assistance programs.
- Promotes and recruits new
vendors for the Farmers’ Market; promotes and
distributes
calendar of events for Pix Theatre.
- Works in conjunction with
the Downtown Development Authority, Business
Recruitment
Committee and Downtown Business Association
to promote a healthy downtown, through, events,
entertainment, a monthly newsletter, and other
promotional efforts.
The Community Development Coordinator's office is housed in the Gallery 194 - Lapeer Center for the Arts, 194 West Nepessing Street, right next door to the Pix Theatre.
The PIX
Theatre is one of our most popular downtown attractions for films and
community programs.
