Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Lapeer Housing Commission administers 122 Housing Choice Voucher Rental Subsidies for the use within the City of Lapeer. This program is funded directly by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Program Description
The Lapeer Housing Commission jurisdiction is within the city limits of Lapeer. Units for vouchers administered by the Lapeer Housing Commission must be located within the city limits. Location of rental units can be researched at www.michiganhousinglocator.com.
The participant’s rent amount will be based on their current income. Generally, the tenant is responsible for 30% of their adjusted monthly income towards their rent plus utilities.
Potential New Waitlist Applicants
Applying to the Lapeer Housing Commission's Housing Choice Voucher waitlist is separate/different from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) HCV program waitlist; and people who have applied for the MSHDA program will not lose their place on that waitlist solely due to completing an application for the Lapeer Housing Commission.

If you have a change in your contact information, please notify our office immediately. If your contact information is not updated and documentation is returned to our office, your name will be removed from the waitlist and you then must reapply to an open waitlist.
Current Voucher Participants or all other inquiries
Our office is open Monday and Thursday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday by appointment only. If documentation needs to be submitted and it is after normal business hours, please use the secure drop box located directly outside the office door which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience.
