The Housing Improvement Department (HID) has administered over $7,135,000 of improvements to the City's housing stock since it was established in 1989. We are committed to housing improvement, as indicated by our objectives:
- Improve the existing housing stock, enhance neighborhoods and parks, and stabilize "at risk" neighborhoods
- Ensure decent, safe, fair, and affordable housing to all residents and enforce program/policy compliance (HUD, MSHDA, or local)
- Ensure policies are in place to prevent fraud, mismanagement and discrimination; and ensure that the housing authority acts legally and ethically
The HID oversees programs for the following groups: the US Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Michigan State
Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Lapeer Housing Commission, Riverview Towers, and Lapeer Neighborhoods Incorporated.
