Lapeer Neighborhoods, Inc.

LNI is a non-profit organization formed by the City of Lapeer in September of 1991.  LNI’s mission is to improve the quality of life in and stabilize residential neighborhoods.  Goals and objectives include:

  • Provide information and educational assistance to residents on home repairs, home maintenance, homeownership skills, and home purchasing
  • Encourage and assist historic preservation activities in the neighborhoods of the City of Lapeer through professional and financial assistance
  • Sponsor the Paint Rebate Program (subject to funding availability) to reimburse income eligible homeowners as well as homeowners who own historic homes for the cost of paint to maintain the exterior of their homes
  • Sponsor the Neighborhood Improvement Contest within the City of Lapeer
  • Sponsor the Box City event; a free, educational, and art activity for children during the annual Lapeer Days Festival
  • Purchase non-conforming structures in the City, rehabilitate or demolish and construct new quality in-fill homes with the Lapeer Educational Technical Center’s Building Trades Class
  • Purchase non-conforming rental structures and convert to single-family homes

 

Roles of Lapeer Neighborhoods, Inc. (LNI) Board include the following:

  • Oversee LNI Projects
  • Set goals and approve new initiatives to meet goals
  • Review independent audit to ensure LNI is operating within the parameters of the law
  • Serve as liaisons to neighborhoods, reporting housing related issues to the Housing Improvement staff
